Summer’s Fire and the Heart of Awareness
June Reflections: Summer’s Fire & the Heart of Awareness
Reflections on Summer Energy + an Invitation to Slow Down with a Yin + Sound Bath Experience
As summer unfolds in all its brightness, we’re invited into a season of expansion — not just outward in energy and activity, but inward through reflection, presence, and connection.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is governed by the Fire element and the Heart meridian — associated with joy, connection, and our capacity to feel and express love.
But just like real fire, this energy needs tending. Too much and we burn out. Too little and we become disconnected. Balance becomes the quiet wisdom beneath the season’s heat: mindful movement, restorative rest, and heart-centered choices.
In Buddhist tradition, summer’s fullness is also a reminder of impermanence — everything blooms, and everything fades. This season invites us to practice presence through nature (my favorite!), to open to interconnectedness, and to let beauty deepen our compassion.
So how do we live into this season without being consumed by it?
By staying close to our breath.
By listening to the needs of the heart.
By allowing joy to rise, without chasing it.
As we move through this season of light, it becomes even more important to balance the outward with the inward — to carve out time for stillness, reflection, and deep listening.
That’s why I’m offering a special Yin Yoga & Sound Bath experience this month — a space to cool the fire, settle the heart, and attune to your own natural rhythm. If your body or heart has been craving a pause — this might be it. Flyer with all the details HERE. I’d love to have you there.
With warmth and wildness,
Lisa 🌿
